Module 1: Orientation to Dental Assistant Course

Introduces the course materials and requirements for successful completion of the course. Learn the important people in dental history. Identify the members of the dental team and their educational requirements. Learn the different types of teeth.


Module II: Intro to the Dental Profession/ Dental Sciences

Covers the importance of effective communication and listening skills. Recognize the role of dental psychology in the understanding and addressing patient emotions and fears. Understand the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPPA regulation. Recognizing the significance of oral hygiene and preventative techniques. Understand the structure and function of the head and neck anatomy. Understand the role of microbiology and its impact on oral health and diseases. Learn about infection control, sterilization, and disposal of hazardous materials. Familiarize with pharmacology. Understand the role of dental office management and the duties performed by administrative assistant. Learn strategies for finding employment, including creating a strong cover letter, and resume and job interview preparation.


Module III: Clinical Chairside Assisting/ Dental Materials

Teaches the steps performed in patient preparation. Chart dental conditions. Understand different dental office designs, and equipment. Covers different forms of pain management. Learn how to identify quality dental radiographs, Proper use of dental cements, and restorative materials. Identifies different type of laboratory materials. Understands the steps performed in dental cleaning, placement of sealant, amalgam and composite restoration.


Module IV: Dental Specialties/ Dental Procedures

Learn the difference between nine dental specialties. This will include Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Oral Pathology, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics, Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics, Cosmetic Dentistry. Understand the steps that are performed for the following dental procedures: RCT Therapy, Extraction, Pit and Fissure Sealants, Coronal Polish, Crown and Bridge, Dentures


Module V: Course Completion

Final examination, Interview prep questions, creation of cover letter, resume, and thank you letter for employment.
